The All India Institute of Local Self Government has been marching ahead from strength to strength. In its commitment to strengthen local governance and impart training to vast number of local officials and aspirants to local services all over the country, the Institute has established regional centres in different parts of the country - from Delhi to Trivandrum and from Ahmedebad to Bhubaneshwar.
The Regional Centre at Indore was formally inaugurated on 21 August 2008. The Institute had the honour and privilege of being declared open by Mr. Shivaraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
In his address to the various dignitaries present on the occasion, Mr Chauhan expressed his thanks to Dr. Jatin Modi, President of the All India Institute of Local Self Government and Mr.Ranjit Chavan, Director General of the All India Institute of Local Self Government for taking the initiative to establish a Regional Centre of the Institute at Indore. He expressed his hope that the Regional Centre would play a significant role in augmenting the capabilities of local officials as well as help the youth to acquire modern skills through the various courses the Regional Centre would implement.
In his keynote address Dr. Modi emphasized the role of modern technology in enhancing the delivery of services by local bodies. He also underlined the need to adopt a broader vision to work effectively in an increasingly globalized world.
Mr. Ranjit Chavan, in his welcome address thanked Mr.Sumitra Mahajan, M.R and Dr. MS. Sharma, Honourable Mayor of Indore for their encouraging efforts and cooperation in setting up of the Regional Centre. He affirmed that the Regional Centre would endeavour to serve the people - local officials and elected representations of locai bodies - to the best of its efforts.
