Effective Implementation of SWM Rules 2016 & Prepare for Swachh Survekshan 2021 along with Sustainable Sanitation Goals.

    The Project The Project Management Unit (PMU) at Chandrapur is preparing for Swachh Survekshan 2021 as a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The major responsibilities of the unit include preparation of solid waste management database, compliance of Open Defecation Free certification and Garbage Free City along with documentation of Service Level Progress. Field compliance to ensure the certification is also a responsibility of the PMU.

  • Description of Project: The major responsibilities of the Chandrapur Project Management Unit include Solid Waste Management data base preparation for efficient data management and Compliance for Swachh Survekshan 2021. In addition to this the PMU also looks into compliance of MPCB Solid Waste Management issues, NGT and NCAP Matters.
  • AIILSG New Delhi is providing advisory and strategic support to the Health department of Chandrapur City Municipal Corporation, Chandrapur (CCMC) in implementing and achieving of MSWM Rules 2016 and sustainable goals respectively. The action plan suggested by AIILSG will further be implemented by the CCMC team.
  • The activities carried out while providing support to the CCMC include:
  • 1. Monthly MIS Updation
    2. Compliance of Open Defecation free certification
    3. Compliance of Garbage Free City (GFC)
    4. Documentation of Service Level Progress (SLP), ODF and GFC
    5. Assistance and monitoring ground activities
    6. Random field visits to ensure on field compliances with respect to Swachh Survekshan
    7. Handholding of CCMC Officials including Ward Officers & Field Staff.
    8. Preparation of Monthly Progress Reports.
  • Work done as part of the project in the past week. Various on-field and off-field activities, under the heads of SS-2021, ODF++, Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan, were undertaken by the Chandrapur team. Plastic Waste Management Action Plan was prepared and submitted to the Nodal Officer. Under ODF++, the team visited 29 CTs/PTs available in the ULB, prepared a monitoring report, rectified the repairs with the help concerned agency and done the follow-up till the completion of 3rd party assessment and successful uploading of the documents on the portal. Also, the team successfully submitted the required Q1 Documents on SS-2021 Portal. Apart from these, the team prepared a plan of action and enlisted the activities for implementation of Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan and presentation was given to the Nodal Officer- Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan. It is worth mentioning that, being a Nodal Agency, the team provided technical assistance to the IEC partners and is continuously following-up on the required activities so as to ensure compliance. Additionally, the team prepared compliance reports against the orders received from NGT, NCAP and MPCB.
