• Project Introduction: A large number of people have been migrating into the capital city of Delhi in search of livelihood opportunities. It has been estimated that about 4 to 5 Lakh street vendors and hawkers are operating in Delhi today and are an integral part of functioning of Delhi. This project aims to collect the detailed database of economic and social aspects of all existing vendors and hawkers in different Zones of Delhi by conducting demand survey and creating MIS database for future interventions and regularization for street vendors in Delhi.
• Details of Region project is implemented: The survey will be conducted in all the Town Vending Committee (TVCs) zones of Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The following MCD’s covered under the project are: -
  1. 1 TVC under New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)
  2. 11 TVC’s under North Delhi Municipal Corporation
  3. 9 TVC’s under South Delhi Municipal Corporation
  4. 11 TVC’s under East Delhi Municipal Corporation and
  5. 1 TVC under Delhi Cantonment

• Project Goals
• 1) To assess the number of Street Vendors and Hawkers in different Zones [as identified by the ULBs for formation of Town Vending Committees (TVCs)] of Delhi along with information regarding their socio-economic profile like household profile, place of vending, and vending profile.
• i. The survey will be conducted on identified streets and markets in different zones as per the list provided by the concerned TVC.
• ii. The Zones are located across the city and fall under the jurisdiction of Divisions into which Delhi is divided for purposes of administration. These zones will be same as the zones identified by ULBs for formation of TVCs.
• iii. The Survey & MIS entry will be as per Delhi Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Rules, 2017 and Delhi Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Scheme, 2019.
• 2) To create a robust database of vendors and hawkers with their identity documents along with contact details for initiating various planned interventions for protection and regularization of street vendors in Delhi.
• 3) To link vendors with other welfare schemes and policies of the government.
• 4) To provide smart ID card for the street vendors.
• 5) To develop suitable indicators, that would be useful for monitoring, evaluation and planning.
