Solid Waste Management




  1. Detail Project Reports for solid waste management for Nagpur Division (2017 – 2018)
  2. Government of Maharashtra appointed AIILSG for the preparation of DPRs for all the ULBs in the Nagpur division. All 35 DPRs are successfully completed under this project. The process of DPR finalisation involved ULB visits, field work, preparation of draft DPR, presentation to PS, GoM for finalisation, obtaining TS from MJP, presentation of DPRs with TS to SLTC and HPC and submission of approved finals DPR to all stakeholders.



  3. Swachh Survekshan 2018-19 (August 2018 – January 2019)
  4. Swachh Survekshan is the world’s largest cleanliness ranking exercise taken up by the Government of India to assess urban areas for their levels of cleanliness and active implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission initiatives in a timely and innovative manner.

    • AIILSG Mumbai provided handholding support to Thane Municipal Corporation in preparation for Swachh Survekshan 2019 by placing two full time and dedicating one part time team member for TMC.
    • AIILSG Mumbai also provided handholding support to Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation for preparation of SS2019 by placing one full time and dedicating one part time team member for KDMC.

    The work included assessing data and on-ground situation in the cities, making strategies and action plans with timelines for higher score in the competition, conducting meetings and workshops for stakeholders, organising/compiling documents required for validation and documentation of efforts undertaken by the cities.





  5. Assessing impact of solid waste generation on environment in 25 years to come- Thane Municipal Corporation (8 months from February 2019)
  6. Thane Municipal Corporation has appointed AIILSG Mumbai for undertaking scientific study of generation of municipal solid waste and its environmental impact assessment for next 25 years for the city of Thane.


    The scope of work for the study consist of following:

    • Assessment of existing scenario of solid waste generation and its management in TMC jurisdiction.
    • Estimation of the solid waste scenario in next 25 years in TMC jurisdiction.
    • Assessment of the impact of this estimated solid waste on the environment in Thane city area.

    The proposed study will be conducted in three phases:

    The first phase will mainly focus on study of the existing scenario of solid waste management in TMC.

    The second phase will be aimed at identifying the waste generation patterns in TMC with respect to quantity as well as quality of the various types of waste generated. The projections for next 25 years will be presented in this phase.

    In the third phase, the environmental impacts associated with various activities under the solid waste management will be assessed.
