Empower local bodies and other stakeholders to deliver to each citizen her/ his rights to health, education, safety, participation and development through excellent governance and service delivery.
Mission
Promote AIILSG as a premier institute which excels in supporting and enhancing local governance and development by hand holding local bodies and other stakeholders in achieving excellence in local service delivery and wider global and national development goals. Undertake quality research, knowledge management, actions and advocacy for the organisations and concerned stakeholders.
Objectives
The following core objectives shall guide AIILSG’s work. These shall be appropriately expanded or fine-tuned in line with emerging priorities, programmes and initiatives of the national, regional and state governments in the country and other countries where AIILSG seeks to spread its work.
- To advance the knowledge of the principles and practices of local governance.
- To strengthen and improve local government institutions through capacity building by organising training courses, workshops and other programs.
- To foster debate at local, national and international levels by organising seminars and conferences on issues of relevance with a view to dissemination of ideas, better understanding and policy advocacy.
- To undertake specific projects including joint ones with global multilateral organisations in the areas of poverty alleviation and inclusion in urban, rural and tribal spheres and with the nomadic tribals.
- To undertake research work and projects to assist states and organisations and provide specific outputs sought by them.
- To undertake scientific knowledge management by publishing journals, bulletins, bibliographies and other literature and reference material on different aspects of local governance.
